I’m eating my way through the Portland, Oregon barbecue scene to find the top spots for chowing down on a delicious plate of BBQ. Portland is already known for a robust and diverse food scene, but great barbecue can be somewhat elusive around these parts. But fear not my friends, I am doing the hard work of trying out a bunch of BBQ joints and reporting back the results. I’ll let you know where to find the best ribs, brisket, and more.
For each place I visit, I’ll be putting up a review to dish the details. When I’ve hit every destination on the tour, look for a results post that summarizes the tour and provides my final rankings. I’ve also posted my ratings next to each restaurant I have visited below. For more on what the scores mean, see my ratings system post.
Tour destinations:
Here are the destinations for the Portland BBQ Tour. I’ve tried to include the most raved about places in the Portland Metro area. We’ve got it all here: food trucks, food carts, brick & mortar. There is even a place inside a gas station. If you know of a spot you think is top notch and it’s not on the list, let me know in the comments and I might put it on the list. I’m particularly interested in the small, lesser known outfits that are cranking out some great BBQ. Let’s put them on the map and give them their due.
